Hazel Mills EP Launch

News Date: 24.05.2007 04:22

HAZEL MILLS CELEBRATES THE LAUNCH OF HER DEBUT EP AT THE FLEECE AND FIRKIN, BRISTOL, 10TH JUNE 2007.

Joining Hazel to celebrate the release of her debut EP, Butterfly, produced by Tim Allen (Aesoteric), are the relentlessly inventive avant-rock five-piece Brenda, and hip shakingly soulful trip-hop/breakbeat merchants, The Formula.

Haling from London and Bournemouth, Brenda create towering, dark and dynamic epics, built of hypnotic guitar lines, soaring, multi-layered vocals, thundering low end and rhythmic invention. With a critically acclaimed 2006 release and a strong live reputation earned from years of touring and shows with the likes of Cult of Luna, 65daysofstatic and Rose Kemp, they are not to be missed. ‘Songs that are more inventive in 30 seconds than the entire career of 90% of other bands’ Drowned in Sound.

Bristol natives, The Formula - formed in 2004 by DJ/Producer Paul Sandquest and vocalist Colleen Quinn, and later supplemented with the additions of Ben Winter (Double Bass) and Jago (drums & percussion) - meld breakbeat, trip hop and drum n’ bass into a unique and infectious whole, and are quickly building up a reputation as one of the best new electronic acts in Bristol. Wooing crowds at festivals and intimate club gigs alike, they know when to be souful and when to get the groove on, and always leave the audience wanting more.

Doors open at 8PM, Hazel goes onstage at 8.45.
